He has originated, structured, and distributed over 100 transactions exceeding $75 billion, achieving top-tier rankings (e.g., Top 5 in USD International Sukuk markets and No. 1 in EMEA Syndicated Financings).

Currently serving as Head of Debt Solutions & DCM at Arqaam Capital, Omar leads a cross-regional debt solutions franchise, driving sovereign and corporate financings across the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia. Previously, he held leadership roles at Oman Investment Bank (Head of Structured Finance & DCM), Vulcan International (Group Head - Treasury & Corporate Finance), Dubai Islamic Bank (Executive Director, Investment Banking), and Deutsche Bank (VP, Global Securities Services), where he pioneered Asia’s first fund management outsourcing deal.

Omar is a strategic thinker and his entrepreneurial spirit shines through ventures like Skytots (UAE’s largest baby equipment rental firm) and advisory roles for prominent entities, including the Private Office of Sheikh Saeed bin Ahmed Al Maktoum. He holds a BSc in Marketing & Business Administration from Southeastern University (USA) and is fluent in navigating complex cross-border transactions, regulatory frameworks, and investor relations.

He has more than 20 years of investment banking experience in Europe, the US and the MENAT region, including 10+ years based in the GCC, and has led the execution of a wide range of conventional and Islamic financing transactions across sovereign, corporate and financial institutions sectors. Prior to joining OIB James headed DCM origination for HSBC in Saudi Arabia,and previously held senior DCM roles at Bank of America in Dubai and New York, BNP Paribas in Bahrain, and UBS in London. He holds an MA (Hons) from the University of Oxford.
